Daniel Adamson In Steam 1984

Photographs © Jeff Meehan 1984

View from aft looking forward, showing the very dark blue/white funnel colours

Engine room views, left, looking towards boiler room/tunnel showing gauges and telegraphs in situ, the stokehold appears to be obscured by steam. Right photo suggests the source of the steam! It appears a gland is blowing badly but it is difficult to judge from the photo which one is the culprit.

Port wing furnace with a good fire burning

This selection of photographs were taken by Jeff Meehan during one of the last sailings  under steam during 1984. We would like to thank John for allowing them to appear here.

The photographs give a good impression of how the "Daniel Adamson" appeared just 21 years ago, and hopefully will do again in the future.

Wheelhouse interior showing 'Sentinel' steering engine and wheel (Note it appears there is a leak in the way of the cup lubricator none of these remain today!) Also showing one of the 'Robinson' telegraphs, again neither of which escaped the attention of thieves whilst the vessel was at EPBM

Finally, how the upper saloon looked as recently at September 1984 and hopefully will again when restored!
