On
Tuesday August 24, 2004 work was undertaken by JPS Scaffolding Supplies
to erect a scaffolding frame over the after deck. This will provide a framing
over which sheeting can be placed to prevent the ingress of rainwater through
the rather porous after deck, replacing the previous temporary affair. The
sheeting will be fitted on August 25. The height of the framing is sufficient
to facilitate easy working beneath the cover.
If one
looks at the photograph on the right which dates from the early 1930s it can
be seen that the after deck awning used to protect the guests on board had a
very similar framing arrangement. [Photo: MSCCo]
