Member John Hake uses his electrical skills to check out a diesel generator which was kindly donated to us by member Billy Thompson (JPS Scaffolding). We now have 240 volts on board for certain tasks John Broomby (left) and Gordon Owen although joiners by trade, are “un-joining” the port main deck. This wooden deck cladding was rotten and a tripping hazard and had to be removed. Before this could be done, detailed plans were drawn, measurements taken and the whole deck photographed. Members Eddie Doig and Colin Leonard have been working hard on the fore peak locker.  Over the last few weeks they have chipped, wire brushed and given it several coats of paint. As the picture now shows, it looks better than ever.

New member Steve Lawrinson volunteers for the dirties job aboard- the engine room bilges Nigel Farrell and Dave Broomby re-fasten the watertight glands on the port prop shaft after it was opened for inspection. All glands and joints are being inspected to ensure the shafts turn freely to allow us to hand turn the engines on a regular basis to prevent them seizing.
